Work in Progress - Charmed Tattoos

Ally and Don’s party.  George offers to make me a butterfly tattoo like Marianne’s, or a bird, or a horse with wings, he says I should do this before he returns to Spain.  And he says stuff about Marianne I’d never imagine like after the war for Catalonian independence, he’s coming back for her.  And he wants a pineapple cake like the one she brought over to the neighbor’s house – but just for him.

Lights, a soda sweats in my hand, Ally and Don tease me about the time I went swimming in their pool at 3 a.m. 

And I tell George my stories about Marianne and her butterfly tattoo.  "Can you charm mine too?" 

"You want one with a consciousness?"

Back home.  George journeys to Catalonia, and we end up with his dog.  The Champ.  The new semester begins tomorrow.  I haven't shopped for Professor's class, and I can't stop thinking about what George said about Marianne and wish I'd asked if Beast ever talked about me the way he talks about her.  But asking for a spell on tattoo is easier.
